After 2 years with the Electricity Commission of NSW at both Vales Point and Eraring Power Stations, Bill embarked on a 14 year career as a teacher of Mechanical Engineering. His teaching career was enhanced by many years of practical experience in steam generation and distribution systems, compressed air systems, waste heat recovery and co-generation systems and the efficient use of fuels.
Bill initiated and taught the NSW TAFE Energy Management and Renewable Energy Technologies Course as well as all levels of Thermal and Fluid Systems.
He concluded his teaching career in 1995 to take up a role as a consulting mechanical engineer. Bill has been closely involved, as Senior Mechanical Engineering Consultant, in innumerable energy audits for Energy Australia, North Power, Country Energy and the Snowy Mountains Engineering Corporation. His focus in all energy audit assignments is the practical targeting and reduction of energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions.
Bill holds a Bachelor of Science (Mechanical Engineering) from the Univerity of Newcastle, a Graduate Diploma in Education from Newcastle CAE and a Marine Engineering Technology Certificate through Newcastle Technical College.
